Knowledge of the future

Today, i want to write to you myself.

Since the beginning of time, knowledge has been the main source for human creation and development. Phrases such as "Knowledge is power" have "re-tweeted" over 1,246,784,923,752,872,284 times since the beginning of man-kind. The popularity of the phrase itself comes from the our ability to attain free knowledge from our surroundings and environment. So, we can conclude that knowledge is produced from your surrounding environment, now, what if this environment is taken away?

When the internet was not available, we shared knowledge through word of mouth so if you lived in a village, your knowledge is most probably significantly restricted to the books that are available to you and the people that surround you. However, if you live in a city, your knowledge is vast and limitless, with millions of citizens and hundreds of thousands of books.

Now that the internet is available, people that live in the most rural of places can learn just as much as those that live in the city. But, this library of free knowledge is not only achieved through the existence of internet. There is one major catalyst that allows a network of universal human knowledge. One necessity, that we could not think of living without 10 years ago.

This is Wikipedia.

this is what they had to say.

Imagine a world without Free Knowledge

For over a decade, we have spent millions of hours building the largest encyclopedia in human history. Right now, the U.S. Congress is considering legislation that could fatally damage the free and open Internet. For 24 hours, to raise awareness, we are blacking out Wikipedia.

Raise awareness. Wikipedia is the best resource for free knowledge.

Plus... i feel sorry for those of you that have an essay due in tommorow, gutted. Tough life.
